(Herald Correspondent.) On Saturday evening the Mctuhora Hall was the scene of a very jolly concert and dance, arranged by Mr. and Mrs. F.. Bain and parents of school children, in aid of the school flunks. A number of visitors were present from Motu and To Wera. Euchre enthusiasts enjoyed keen games in the supperroom, until 9.30 p.m., the winners being Mrs. G. Begg and Air. McGuiness, other prizes going to Miss Al. Derecourt and Mr. K. Derecourt. Airs. Boyle and Messrs. J. Prentice, violin, F. Calvey, ami C. Pedersen, accordoon, supplied the music for dancing. The school children delighted the large audience with several items. Miss Joan McDonald sang a solo and later a duet with her sister Hazel. “Two Little Girls in Blue.” Recitations were given by Misses Mona Derecourt. and R. Maka, and Master A. Howe, a pianoforte duet by .Misses -J. Howe and D. Bain, ad a Highland Fling bv Master G. Bain. Several novelty dances pioved popular, a balloon waltz for children and adults being won by Aliss Al. Sheppard and Mr. Al. Bain and .Miss Mona. Derecourt and Alaster G. Bain. Other winning couples were Aliss Donaldson and Mr. B. Hansen and Air. and Mrs. J. Quirk. A handsome cushion donated by Airs. Bain was won by Mrs. Wilson. A painful accident occurred on Sunday afternoon when Mr. 11. Evans and a companion were pig bunting. The two limiters wevo in some rough fern country at the back of Pakalii station when a boar attacked them. In trying to escape Mr. Evans caught his loot in some fern roots ami fell. The hoar charged him and inflicted a gash in Mr. Evans’ thigh. Fortunately the pig was downhill and the wounded man managed to kick him away until his companion arrived and frightened the animal off. Air. Evans was conveyed hv Mr. Brooks to Matnwni, where Sister Pritchard rendered first, aid and sent the patient on to Gisborne. He is now in the Cook Hospital, and the latest advice is that be is comfortable.
