CONTROL OF NEWSPAPERS LOST TO FORMER WIFE PARIS, May 1. M. Francois Coty has lost control ol the century-old newspaper Le Figaro. Beginning his career by hawking scent from door to door, Coty amassed such a fortune in scent-making (hat lie is reputed to have received £10,000,C00 from an American company for a hailshare in 1928. As part of a divorce settlement, totalling £3,400,000, M. Coty’s wife received a block of shares in Le Figaro. She systematically bought up all the other shares available until she obtained control of the paper, and is now planning its extensive reorganisation. She is now married to young Rumanian,
