KICKED BY HORSE

DEER STALKER INJURED AN ARDUOUS JOURNEY (Par Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. Severe chest injuries and shock were suffered on Sunday by Lester Masters, a resident of Twyford, as ,a result of being kicked by a 'horse upon which he was riding on the Runhine hills, behind Kercru, on a deerstalking expedition. Masters, who is aged 35 years, was accompanied by ,a nephew, Erie Burge, aged ill years. Apparently the girth of the saddle slipped, and Masters’ foot was caught in the stirrup, lie was dragged some distance head down, and evidently kicked by his alarmed horse. Burge went back, quietened the horse, and extricated his uncle. The two managed to reach a whare where they spent Sunday night. Next morning, Burge walked to Big Hill station, whence a rescue party set out at noon. After an arduous journey over rough country, the party returned to the station at 2.30 o’clock this mbrning, and Masters was brought to Hastings. Though his injuries arc serious, he is making satisfactory progress.
