THE SINGLES FINALISTS PERRY AND CRAWFORD (Received May 5, 11 a.m.) LONDON, May 4. At the Eastbourne tennis singles, in the semi-finals, Crawford defeated Quist, 7—6, 6-4, J_6, 6—2 s Perry defeated Kirby, 7—6, 6—l, 6-y3-In the women’s singles, semi-finals, Miss M. Scriven defeated Miss Betty Nuthall, 8-6, 6-2; Miss P. E. Round defeated Miss M. Stammers, 6—l, 6—4. , In the women’s doubles, semi-finals, Misses Dearman and Lyle defeated Miss Fearnley Whittingstall and Miss Yorke, 6 —2, 6—4; Misses Godfrey and Noel defeated Mrs. Hopman and Miss Hardwick. 6—l. 6—l

In the mixed doubles, third round, Lester and Miss Ingram defeated GandarDower and Miss Noel, 6—2, 4—6, 6—2. Men’s doubles third round, Crawford and McGrath defeated Malfroy and Prenn, 9—7, 6—4, 11—9; Quist and Turnbull defeated Fujikura and Hopman, 6 —4, 7—5, I—6, 6 —3. In the semi-final, Crawford and McGrath defeated Perry and Lee, 6—l, 4—6, 6—2, 6-3.

Mixed doubles, third round, wheatcYoft and Mrs. Wheatcroft defeated Stedman and Miss McAlpine, 3 —6, 7 —5, B—6; Miki and Miss Round defeated Sharpe and Miss Dearman, 6—4, 6—l. In the semi-final, Miki and Miss Round defeated Lester and 1 Miss Ingram, 6—3, 6-4.

Crawford’s and Qnist’s singles were not taken seriously. Crawford obtained useful practice. He was particularly sound on the backhand, but served many doubles. He finished full of vitality.

Kirby played finely against Perry, justifying his victory over McGrath, but he was unable to stand up to Perry’s strong driving.
