Another, link with the early history of Wanganui has been severed by the passing of Mr William Bamber, at Gonvillc. The late Mr Bamber arrived in Wanganui with his parents in 1857. He farmed on the Ellangowan property until he retired some time ago.

The Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union is to enter a challenge this season for the Ranfurly Shield, at present held by Canterbury. It is also the intention of the union to arrange a tour of the South Island by the Hawke’s Bay representatives before the All Blacks leave for Australia. At the corner of Ormond road and Sheehan street last evening a car and a cyclist came into collision. The car, driven by Mr. Hugh Douglas Eric Itohinson, Hassell street, was proceeding up Ormond road and turned into Sheehan street, while the cyclist, a boy named Mclntyre, who was riding down Ormond load towards town also turned into Sheehan street. As a result of the mishap the cyclist was taken to Rostra vor Hospital, Imt as lie had received only lrvov injuries he was able to go home.
