PREMATURE EXPLOSION
BLASTING OF A TREE MAN & THREE GIRLS HURT (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A 'premature explosion during the blasting of'.a tree at New Brighton resulted in injuries to a jnan and .throe girls yesterday afternoon. Mr D. Henderson, married, pf Lonsdale street, and Joan .Rjeha,rdson, 8, of Park road, were taken to,hospital. ■ Mr Henderson suffered from head and chest injuries, and the girl sustained a broken arm and face injuries. Two other girls, Estelle Richardson uid Dorothy Marsh, of Park road, received minor injuries. Mr Henderson and Jean Richardson had recovered consciousness this morning, but their condition w.as fairly serious. The blasting powder was 'lome-mtide. The charge was .being ammed home into the log when it exploded. The children wore watching he work.
