PLANE SHOT DOWN

FAR EAST SENSATION JAPANESE DISASTER RUSSIANS RESPONSIBLE ? (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received March 1, noon.) SHANGHAI, Feb. 28. A report from Tokio states that a Japanese military . plane wns shot down and the occupants killed near the Manchuli border. The Japanese authorities regard the matter seriously and are taking it up with Russia. The military authorities report that two more Japanese scout planes were fired on over the Manchurian border by Russians. - Reports, however, disagree concerning the casualties in the plane that was brought down, allegedly by a .Soviet gun, some stating that all of the crew were killed, and others alleging that none were. Another report suggests that the culprits were bandits, whom the Japanese plane was reconnoitring. The Japanese Ambassador at Moscow has been instructed to protest and warn the Soviet of the invasion of Japanese territory by recent flights in Korea, and also to deny that a Japanese plane flew over Soviet territory as was alleged.
