.SHOT DEAD WHILE RIDING MELBOURNE, Jan. 29. Or. Henry George Vinoeombe, a well-known, grazier, was shot dead at Red Lion; about four miles from Talbot, at 8. a.m, -to-day. The tragedy occurred about 300 yards from his homestead on the main Cluncs to Majorca road. When riding past a. high box-thorn hedge that runs parallel .with the road, lie was confronted bv a mail, who apparently had been hiding behind the hedge. The man, it is alleged, asked Cr. Vinoeombe what ho intended to do for his girls, and then fired a charge from a gun. Cr. Vinoeombe fell from his horse fatally wounded, the charge having entered the back pf his head. Soon after the shooting a man informed a neighbor that he had shot Cr. Vinoeombe. He was arrested and tliken to Talbot, where he was charged with murder. It is alleged that the two men had not been friendly for a long time.
