In the House of Commons, Sir Philip Sassoon, in answer'to questions, said he believed that the approximate total of qualified civil and military pilots in Russia was 3000, There were between 4CCO and £COO each in France, Italy, and Germany. There were 3200 regular and non-regular air force pilots in Britain able to fly fast modern service aircraft. It was impossible to estimate the number of civilians so qualified.
