A SCHEME ABANDONED OTTAWA, Feb. 25. The Canadian Minister for Trade and Commerce, Mr It. H. 'Stevens, stated in the Canadian House of Commons on Saturday that the Government had given serious thought to donating 10,000,000 to 20,000,000 bushels of free wheat to China, but had abandoned the plan when it was found that there was not the slightest chance of the grain getting to the people of the interior, for grasping trade associations at Shanghai were likely to take it themselves.
