The number of men engaged oil the willow-clearing job in tho bod of the Waipaoa- River, 'near the Willows settlement. has been increasing steadily. ]•! men having boon, given allotments of work there last week, and 20 applying for the work this week. A highly satisfactory rate of work lias been established mid maintained in the clearing of tic trees. A few further applications have been received by the Public Works i Department for work in the standard rate camps on various road jobs throughout the district, and two new jobs are to be put in hand this week, these being on the Arikihi and Kiore roads. More men can he placed on these works as i they become available, it is understood.
