ONLY £2,250,000 STATEMENT BY MINISTER (Special to tho Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day. The lion. A. Hamilton, Minister in charge of the Government Statistician ’s Department, quoted at Takaka .official details of New Zealand’s overseas trade for the year ended December 31, showing an excess in tlie value of exports over imports of £15,425,000 on a 'basis of Now Zealand currency, 'while the excess on a sterling basis was £12,340,000. ! The Minister declared that as the 'Dominion’s overseas interest and other liabilities were approximately £10,000,000 annually, the present accumulation of London funds was not excessive, for on the basis of the export, trade, it was a surplus of about £2,250,000, and not £5,000,000 as exchange crimes suggested.
