FARMER’S BANKRUPTCY CREDITORS SYMPATHETIC (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A meeting of creditors of Richard May Downs Morten, a well-known slice)) farmer, of the Ahuriri estate. Tai Tapu, was held to-day. His financial statement showed a deficiency of £18,711. including £98(9 owing to unsecured creditors. The amount owing to secured creditors was £74,232, the estimated value ot the securities being £62,197. The assets totalled £3202, including book debts, £1927. The bankrupt stated that tho cause of his position was mainly the loss on the Nukutnwhati property, North Auckland, and other causes due to the depression. . The creditors were sympathetic, and a motion was moved that every means possible be' taken to facilitate the discharge of the bankrupt. Tile Official Assignee adjourned the meeting, till next Wednesday to hear the views of other creditors.
