WOOL AND SKIN SALE FIRM GISBORNE MARKET A sale of wool oddments and sheo'pskins was held at Gishorn6 to-day. Prices were generally firm on those ruling in other centres during the past: week or so, and considerably up on the last local sale of October 11. There was a bench of 14 buyers representing local, Auckland, Hawke’s Bay and | Wellington interests. Bidding was keen for tho most part, and rates in the early catalogues went up to as high as 141 d for one fudge of Southdown fleece, while another fadge of A hogget wool was knocked down at lOd. Such prices have not (been heard at a Gisborne sale for a long time. Compared with the last oililment sale at Gisborne, the oddments were dearer ‘than at the October sale by about lid [to 2d. Grutcliings, hollies and pieces were sold at above Cd per lb. at times, while 43d to oil wore the top rates in October. Locks went to fid in the early part, while the best price in October was 3RI. Bidding was also keen for sheepskins, and some of -the three-quarter to full woolled skins exceeded 8d per Hi., whereas 7M was the limit at tho l.ast Gisborne sale. The offering was a large cue, comprising (SOS hales of wool and a particularly heavy entry of skins, totalling 12,7(58, the largest number at a , Gisborne sale for a long time.
