Perfect summer weather prevailed for the second day of the Takapuna Racing Club’s meeting when there was another good attendance. The totalisator receipts were £21,101, an increase of £5566 10s on last year’s figure. The receipts for the meeting were £42,965, an increase of £6879 15s on last year. The day began with another largo dividend, when Roman Mascot beat a field of 23 to pay over a third of a century on the win machine. There were no other double figure returns. Nearing the turn Roman Mascot shot through on the rails, when Bcllkyrian took Chief Clerk and Teddy Boy out wide. Roman Mascot ran on well to score by a length from Solarium, who galloped very fast on the outside, to beat Bcllkyrian by half a length. Chief Clerk was fourth. Time, 1.14.

Cautley Handicap.—4-4 Sinking Fund, 7.1*1 (N. R. McKenzie), 1; 3-2 Greek Gold. 9.3 (A. Tinker), and 6-7 Quietly, 7.7 (Duncan), dead-heat, 2. Also ran: 2-2 Paganelli, 1-1 Eereatu, 7-6 Puriri Park, 5-5 Hampton Park. The inside horses Greek Gold and Eereatu were first away, with Paganelli lagging. Sinking Fund came up quickly, joining Green Gold in the lead from Eereatu, Hampton Park, Pdriri Park, Quietly and Paganelli.
