TRUCK DRIVER KILLED
PLUNGE OVER 70FT. BANK (Per Press Association.) NELSON, this day. Charles Dean, 33, a married man with no children, was killed instantly yesterday when a loaded gravel truck he was driving went over a bank on the Hope Saddle, while passing a car. The truck was smashed to pieces. A passenger, William Evans, was injured and sent to hospital. 'The deceased was an Australian who had been in New Zealand for two years. The truck fell 70ft. before the men were thrown clear, but the vehicle burl led on down the slope for a considerable distance.
