THE CITY BAND
(To tlio Editor of tins llerald.) Sir, —Would you kindly grant us space in mi endeavor to correct an impression that appears to be prevailing among the general public. The City hand is nowattached to the Wellington and East Coast Mounted Rifles, and, the uniform being khaki, leads many to believe that the name “Military'’ hand is applied tr> ns. From inquiries received there are many who believe that the estimating competition for an Austin ear is on behalf of the Regimental (City) Hand. This is not so, as we are in no way connected with the Military Band. A “military” band is not necessarily attached to any military force, but is a balanced baud comprised of wood-wind and brass instruments. We. trust that the above explanation will eliminate the confusion which exists at present regarding the name and status of the two bands.— Yours, etc., J. A. YAGG, Chairman, W.E.C.M.R. Band.
