CHICAGO BANK FAILURE
LARGE R.F.C. LOAN EX-VICEPRESIDENT’S PART (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received December 5, 3 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Dec. 4. The records of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation revealed that a loan of £IB,OOO,OCG from the corporation to the. Central Republic Bank and J rust Company, Chicago, which is now in liquidation, and of which tho former vice-president, 31 r. C. G. Dawes, was the, head, matured on December 23, 1932, and had not been renewed. An unpaid balance of £12,431,600 is remaining on loan. It is considered that a technical default was originally made in the latter part of June, 1032. about two weeks after Mr. Dawes resigned the presidency of the Reconstruction Corporation in order to take over the affairs of. the hank, which was then known to be in a shaky condition.
