CHAMPION SWIMMERS
TWO AUSTRALIAN LADIES Notable passengers who arrived at Auckland from Sydney yesterday were the Australian Olympic swimmers, Misses Claire Dennis and Francos Bult. They are to compete in test races at Auckland and appear at carnivals in other towns of the North Island. Their tour lias been arranged by the Waitemata Amateur Swimming Club, of Auckland. Miss Dennis, whose homo is in Sydney, won the 200 metres ladies’ breaststroke championship at the Olympic Games in Los Angelos last year, her time being a world’s record. Miss Bult swims freestyle and holds the Australian championships and records for 100yds. and 220yds. She is also recognised as the fastest lady sprinter in the British Empire. A Melbourne girl, Miss Bult swam for Australia at the Olympic Games last year and ’proved her outstanding ability by being placed fifth in the final of the 100 metres. Mrs M. Chambers, of Sydney, honorary secretary of the New South Wales Ladies' Amateur Swimming Association, is accompanying Misses Dennis and Bull as .their chaperon.
