PROHIBITION OF PARTIES
CZECHOSLOVAKIAN MEASURE SAFEGUARDING THE STATE PRAGUE, Oct. 18. The Government lias tabled a bill providing that the activities of any political party may be suspended or the party itself dissolved altogether. Included ;n rile scope of tile, hill are. commercial companies, trade associations, or other enterprises which are in any way connected with the party -proscribed. Party funds may be confiscated, the publication of party newspapers prohibited, and the mandates of Deputies and Senators cancelled. The bill, which legalises retrospectively the recent compulsory dissolution of the German. National-Socialist and the German National Parties in Czechoslovakia, is directed against any political party whose activities are considered to be hostile to the interests of the State. It is ail enabling bill which strengthens the bands of tlie Coalition in dealing with opposition parties such as the Communists. the Czech Fascists, the Hungarian parties, and possibly the Slovak Clerical (Father Hlinka’s) Tarty.
There is no doubt that the bill will bo passed so far as its main features are concerned.
