STERILISATION SAFE
REPORT BY EXPERTS LONDON, Nov. 20. That an effective and painless method of sterilisation can be adopted without risk to the life or health of the patient is the opinion of the departmental committee which is investigating the sterilisation of mental defectives, according to the News of the World. The committee has completed the taking of evidence. Statistics which have been examined indicate that mental defectives have the largest fiamilie,s. Prisoii^aujhorities reported tlmt it the gftifjflPvere cleared of mental defectives and subnormal persons the prison population would be enormously reduced. The ’committc is recommending that compulsory sterilisation should be delayed pending a. few years’ trial of tho voluntary sterilisation of persons who transmit mental disease.
