WOMAN DISAPPEARS A FRUITLESS SEARCH (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. Anxiety is felt for the safety of Mj-s. Rosa. Boyle, who is thought to have been drowned in the Waiau River, She is the wife of Mr. A lister Patrick Hoyle, of Pleasant Point, South Canterbury. . Air. and Mrs. Boyle had been staying a't 11 a inner Springs, and left on Friday morning to return to South Canterbury. -They stopped on the bank of the Waiau River, ate lunch, and bathed at a spot which is a wellknown resort for picnickers and bather's. They lay in the sun for a time. Mrs. Boyle left Iter husband aiid walked round the point out of sight. As she.did not return, he went to look for her but saw no trace. At. the spot, where, presumably, .Mrs. Boyle, was' drowned, the river Hows so swiftly that, only the strongest swimmer could survive, and a little distance away the river enters a gorge and very dangerous water. The river ha's been searched for US miles, and die search will be resumed to-morrow. Now there is little doubt that Mrs. Boyle was swept away by the current and drowned. Vesterday and to-day the constable at. Culverden and a search party were at work, continuously, but there is no news yet as to the result of the search. Mrs. Boyle is.aged 2(5 years, and is a. daughter of. Mrs. Howard Tripp, of Tima ru.
