MONEY FOR PLEASURE
(To the Editor of the Herald.) .Sir, —May I beg space in your paper to ask the people of Gisborne, is it fair to spend so much money just to give the sailors what, they consider a good time, when almost every person is trying their best to pay their way and how many are succeeding? When men ask for a. fair wage they are told there is no money, sol how is it money can be found just for] pleasure? I am sure the .sailors would tar sooner find their own enjoyment and agree with me if there is money to spare then give the children a treat. There are plenty of them, who have never had ft motor car ride. I am sure the R.S.A. would gladly accept > a little extra help for Christmas. Don’t put me down as a spoil sport, but I feel sure the sailors do not expect the public to do what they cannot honestly afford.—Yours, etc., A.M. (Woman).
