This is contrary to general expectations. Waikato reports during the past few days anticipated a drop of pi _ per lb on iambs this week, ancl on Friday Masterton interests predicted a drop of Id per lb down to a 6d basis. Probably, the shortage of lambs in several districts has had something to do with the schedule being kept up to the point announced a fortnight ago. which is a basis of 6|d per lb for prime lamb. Pig buying rates are still unalter ed, the top price for porkers being 5d and baconers Beef quotations also are unaltered. WAITAKI FREEZING COMPANY The annual report of the Waitaki Farmers’ Freezing Company, Limited, shows that 488,419 head of stock were dealt with, as compared with 386,836 j last year. The profit and loss account; shows a surplus of £4781 10s 7d, after providing £4819 for depreciation and £I7OO for income tax.
