GRATIFYING RETURNS

SYDNEY WOOL VALUES CONTINUANCE EXPECTED THE WEEK IN REVIEW (Elec. Tel. CoDyritrnt—United Assn.) (Received Nov. 2.">, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 2.1 The weekly wool letter in the Sydney Moniing Herald says the competition at this week’s auctions was well distributed ,and brisk. Yorkshire, French, and .Japanese operators bought freely, and German. Belgian, and Italian in a lesser degree. The marketing circumstances have been gratifying, pointing to a continuance of highly satisfactory selling conditions. This week’s catalogues did not contain as many high-class wools as earlier offerings, but the bulk of the sales under the hammer indicated a buovanev of values.

Many of the choicer clips made averages ranging from l!)d to 24d for all classes of fleece to locks. On a clean scoured basis, seventies, warp spinners’ fleece wools realised 40d; on the floor of Sydney stores, good seventies, 38d; seventies, topniaking, 3.11; sixty-fours and seventies, spinners’ fleece wools, 37(1; ()7/70, topniaking, 34d; sixtyfours, spinners, 35(1; average sixtyfours, fopmaking fleece, 33d. LIMIT NOT REACHED OPINION IN YORKSHIRE (Received November 25. .12 noon.) LONDON, Nov. 24. The Yorkshire Post says the shrewdest buyers consider that the advancing wool values have not reached the limit. The continued heavy British consumption and (he recently extended activity in France and Germany, combined with an expected shortage in clip, will ensure soundness of values. At to-day’s sales, 9457 bales were offered, including 4643 from New Zealand, and about 8542 bales were sold. Spirited home and Continental competition was sustained, and full rates were maintained. New Zealand sales: Greasy crossbred, Wniriki. top 15d. average 12-gd.

Messrs. Dalgoty and Company have received the following advice from London, dated November 24:—“The London wool sales continue active, with a hardening tendency. As compared with the closing rates of last series, 58’s are. 2Jd to 3d higher; fid’s, 2Jd higher; 50’s. 2]d to 21d higher; -IS ’s, 2d to 2-3 <1 higher; 46’s, I'd higher; 44 I'd higher; 40’s, 1:1 to ljd higher.”
