NEWFOUNDLAND REFORM
GOVERNMENT APPROVAL KEEN FIGHT EXPECTED (Rice. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Received Nov. 25, noon.) ST. JOHNS, Nov. 23. It is predicted here that organised opposition will make every effort when the Legislature convenes to resist Newfoundland’s loss of Dominion status. It is understood that the British Government’s proposals for the rehabilitation of finance will be opposed, principally on that ground. The Premier, Mr. L. C. Alderdice, announced that members of his United Newfoundland Party in the Legislature unanimously approved the recommendations of the report and the proposal that Newfoundland should return to colony status, with other sweeping changes in the system of government.
