GRANT FOR LIBRARY
Advice has been received from the Carnegie Corporation, United States, by the Victoria College Council, Wellington, that at a meeting held on October 5 the sum of 15,000 dollars voted to Victoria University College for the development of its library had been authorised, a satisfactory plan of operation having been submitted. The first payment of 5000 dollars would he made forthwith. The college registrar reported that the payment had duly arrived, the 5000 dollars yielding £llBO. If it had been sent a few weeks earlier it would have yielded £1250, on account of exchange fluctuations.
