EXPORTS SET UP RECORD LONDON, October S. Boot and shoe manufacturers had good reason t 6 be ■delighted with the trade they did at this year's Shoe and Leather Fair, held tit the Royal Agricultural Hall, Islington. Export orders, which amounted to’ £1J250,000, a record figure, came from the Britisli West Indies, Bordeaux, Hamburg, India, Amsterdam, New Zealand, and Denmark. Other buyers avoid from as far away as China and Japan. Purchases by the British Dominions represented a third of the total value of the export orders. “Men will be wearing sail.bits next spring and summer," a representative of tho industry states. “The heat of the summer just ended left them very unhappy about the feet, and there is a large and increasing demand for light sandals. Only yesterday 1 had a lotter from a very fashionable men’s outfitter in the West End, avllo had received several inquiries for sandals. The toeless variety will be popular. Cruises and the desire for uniform tanning, even of the toes, arc the explanation.”
