SHIELDS AWARDED
LIFE-SAVING CONTESTS (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Wigrain Shield competition under the auspices of the New Zealand Council of the Royal Life-saving Society for the head centre gaining the greatest number of awards, proportionate to the population of the district, ha* been awarded to Taranaki. The Bamford Shield competition, awarded to the school, college, or club in the Dominion gaining most awards, was won by the Auckland Training College, with 588 awards. Wanganui Girls’ College, 800, was second, and New Plymouth Girls’ High School, 200, third.
