METHODIST GIRLS’ CLUB
BAZAAR AND CONCERT At tho Bright street schoolroom yesterday afternoon a successful bazaar was held by the Methodist Girls’ Club in aid of tho church funds, which were again increased by tho bright concert held in the evening. There was a good • attendance at both gatherings, the majority of tho stalls in the bazaar making a good clearance. In opening the bazaar the Rev. H. Daniel thanked tho girls for their splendid efforts and hoped that the visitors •would patronise the stalls. The following were the stallholders: — Work stall, Misses J. Auld, I). Clarke, and G. Ferguson; cake stall. Misses I’. Wheeler, M. Dazeley and M. Harries; sweets stall, Misses G. Bullock, G. Daniel, and F. Auld; produce stall. Misses A. Houghton, and G. McKay; (lower stall, Misses P. and T. Bullock; babvwoar stall, Misses V. Bignell and K. Russell; afternoon tea, Misses P. McDonald, L. Wright, E, Jackson, and C. Foster. During the afternoon several competi tions were held, results being as follows :—Estimating competition : Mrs. Chrisp and Miss M. Harries tied, and the draw resulted in Miss Harries being presented with a cushion. Estimating the weight of a cake: Misses M. Duncan and G. Richardson drew and halved the cake. A third estimating competition was won by Mr. 1). Lee. Features of the concert were the two plays presented by the Methodist Girls Club, t U«' success of which was largely due to the work of Mr. Stacey, who trained the girls. Other items were given by the following:—Songs, Misses V. McCarthy and P. Wheeler; dance. Miss Joan Izod; plays, Methodist Girls’ Club; humorous songs, Mr. Seal; violin solo, Mr. C. Goldsmith; recitation, Miss Sullivan; musical monologue, Miss Eirene Halbert.
