VISIT TO GISBORNE
MR. ULM’S N.Z. TOUR ARRIVAL NEXT THURSDAY / Actvice was received to-day that ill'. Charles Ulm proposes, to visit Gisborne next week, arriving on iliursday. 1 rosumably Gisborne is to be the first town to be visited by Mr. Ulm after his arrival at Now Plymouth at the end of his Tasman flight, as cabled advice •published in tins issue states that the flight is not to take place before the week-end. A telegram was received by the town clerk. Mr. W. M. Jenkins, to-day from Mr. Smyth, New Zealand manager for Mr. Ulm’s tour, advising of his proposed visit. Mr. Jenkins obtained the necessary permission for the aeroplane to land jon Waikanae Beach, as, loaded, the machine would be unable to take off from Darton Field, and lias telegraphed to Mr. Smyth accordingly. In a covering letter Mr. Jenkins pointed out, however, that Mr. Ulm’s arrival would coincide with the visit of 11.M.5. Diomede, in respect of which various functions have been arranged. As low water will be at 10.30 a.rn. on Thursday, however, it is unlikely that Mr. Ulm would operate his plane after midday, so that the afternoon would still be free for the Diomede functions.
