To-day’s North Island Report. Blue skies were reported this morning at Auckland. Last Capo, and Wellington, but overcast conditions persisted elsewhere in the North island. Light to i'resh northerly breezes were general. The barometer had continued to rise steadily. Temperatures at !• o’clock were: Auckland 01 degrees, Tauranga 53, Opotiki and Gisborne 00, East Cape 55, Napier 50, and Wellington 5L Rough seas were reported at Cape Campbell, Napier, and ’Tauranga; elsewhere moderate or •smooth. Last Night’s Forecast. A rather intense anticyclone extends from Tasmania on to the South Island, while pressure remains low over the northern Tasman. Winds: Variable in the far north, with easterly to northerly prevailing; southerly to easterly elsewhere : moderate to strong generally, and of gale force in places about and north of Cook Strait. Seas: Rough north of Farewell Spit and Akaroa ; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea : Strong south-east to east wind; rough seas. Weather: Mainly fair to fine in the South Island; changeable in the North Island, with rain at times, more especially in the northern and eastern districts; cold temperatures and some inland frosts. Midday Forecast. General inference. —A moderate anticyclone still covers New Zealand. The cyclonic depression in the north Tasman Sea is now centred south-west, of Norfolk Island.
