CINEMA DISTURBANCE
STUDENTS AT CAMBRIDGE NAVAL TRAINING FILM LONDON, Nov. 10. Hundreds of Cambridge undergraduates took part in a disturbance outside the Tivoli Cinema, where a film demonstrating naval training was being shown. Adherents of the “anti-war” council, who had spent some days planning operations, clashed with supporters of Britain’s forces. The pro naval section arrived with two London ex-service men’s bands, singing war-time ,ongs and waving Union Jacks. Police prevented an irruption into the cinema, though fireworks were'discharged and external damage was done. An undergraduate who was trying to enter the back door was thrown out. Another, who climbed to the root, was cheered as he shouted, “The Ring! God bless him!” The proctors of the university took scores of names.
