RELIC OF R.L.S.

PIANO IN WELLINGTON (Psr Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A link ,with the famous writer, Robert Louis Stevenson, in the shape of an okl-fashioncd upright Doerncr piano, with ornate decoration on the front and side panels, is at present in Wellington. The instrument is mentioned in at least one ot the biographies of Stevenson. It was ordered through a Glasgow firm and made especially at DoernOr’s for Stevenson, and then sent to him at Samoa. On arrival at Wellington it was handed over to a firm of piano dealers for preservation treatment. No more was done than was necessary to preserve it and slightly revive the polish. Naturally, the piano was riddled with borer, but it has now been treated in such a way that its life should be considerably prolonged.
