HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES BASIS OF ALLOCATION The present basis of allocation of heavy traffic fees amongst the local bodies of The No. 4 highways district is to remain unchanged lor a further period of three years, the local boclies concerned, at tho conference held last Wednesday, having refused to increase tlie allocation, to the borpugh. Tlie conference was called by the Borpugb Council, and was attended by the Mayor, Mr. jolm Jackson, Crs. JET. 15- Maude and H. JJohnes, and representatives of the Cook; Waikohu, Uawa, Matakaoa, and Waiapu county, councils. The proceedings Kere ip committee, and the following report was submitted to last evening's 'meeting of the Borough Council : “The Mayor stated that the Borough Council at present received as its share 15.46 per cent, of the fees, and considered it was entitled to a larger percentage. In support of this contention the. Mayor quoted the case of the municipal bus services which run, with one or two exceptions, on roads wholly ■within tho borough boundaries, and maintained by the borough.
