FIRMER MEAT MARKET SALE AT MATAWIIERO / VERY SMALL VA It DINGS Very small yardings came forward in all sections at the Matawhero stock sale to-day, and all business was completed at the luncheon adjournment. Fat sheep values showed an upward tendency, the best price of the sale being 16s 6d for a pen of five solid wethers. DAIRY COWS \ Prices for dairy cattle were :—8 good yearling Jersey heifers, 345; 1 empty, medium condition Hereford cross cow, 21s; 1 Holstein heifer, just calved, good show, £4. LOWER BUTTER PRICES MARKET NOW STEADIER The butter market lias suffered somewhat of a debacle in tile last fortnight, ill which the value of New Zealand butter lias declined by 14s per cwt. To-day’s advice shows finest down to 88s, but the market is regarded as steadier. Messrs. Dalgety and Company report having received the following advice from Ixindon dated November 2: —"Butter: The market is steadier. Quotations: Danish, 116 s to 11.8 s; New Zealand finest, 83s to 88s; Australian finest, 80s to 87s. Cheese; The market is steadier. Quotations: New Zealand, white 48s to 495; colored 47s to 48s. Large quantities were sold this week, butter at 82s' and cheese at 455.”
