MORTGAGORS’ RELIEF

COMMISSIONERS STRIKE PROTEST AGAINST COURTS (Per Press Association.) PALMERSTON N. f this day. As a protest against the way the courts are administering the Mortgagors’ Relief Act, members of the Wellington Mortgagors’ Relief Commission have returned to their homes. In other words, they are on strike. At various times, the work of the commission has been commended by judges, but apparently the commissioners have not quite the same appreciation of the way tho courts are administering the Act. It is rumored that the commissioners think that the courts are not as lenient as they might, be, and are not viewing the Act as the Legislature intended. The chairman of the commission would give no information for publication. He declared that the members had not resigned. Nevertheless, the commissioners have returned to their homes, while apparently there is plenty of work on hand. It is understood also that they have Cancelled their sittings.
