MOTORING ACCIDENT
YOUNG MAN HURT MISHAP NEAR TE KARAKA A mishap occurred to a motor-car containing a party of young men returning from Te Karaka in the early hours this morning. The car. negotiated a bend on the main road about five miles on the Gisborne side of Te Karaka, but, confused by foggy conditions which prevailed, the driver failed to straighten up in time, and the car ran into the ditch at the side of the road. One young man. Frank Bayliss, 22, sou of Mr. Thomas Bayliss, 201 Ormond road, received injuries to his head and thigh, and was rendered unconscious. A car which arrived on the scene a few moments after the accident occurred conveyed the injured man to his home, where medical attention was secured. He regained consciousness before the trip to town was commenced, and it is understood that his injuries were not of a very serious nature, his condition at midday to day being satisfactory. Beyond cuts and abrasions, the other occupants of the car were unhurt. The car itself was extensively damaged.
