STRUCK BY LIGHTNING
TARANAKI MAN KILEED (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, last night. A Maori named Wanau was struck dead by lightning in a paddock at Omata this evening. He was a married man with several, children. Wanau was walking across the paddock with his son, who, though only about Bft away from his father when the flash came, was unharmed. Wanau’s death was immediate. A brief thunderstorm followed a sunny and exceedingly hot day. Rain clouds quickly gathered and heavy rain fell accompanied by lightning. Within an hour the evening was again perfect. _____
