DRAINAGE OF AUCKLAND
A unanimous opinion that the.major scheme of the Auckland and ►Suburban 'Drainage Board should bo commenced immediately, thereby alleviating the serious pollution of the Waitomatn. and Manukau harbors and beaches, was expressed at a meeting of the Auckland Harbor Board, when a motion recommending the Drainage Boat’d and 19 local authorities concerned to proceed with the permanent scheme suggested by Mr. H, IT. Watkins, engineer to the board, was proposed by Mr. S. Vella. It was stated about GOOO men would be required on tlie which was almost a national matter, and consequently had a great claim on the public funds which were being spent with- little permanent result under the No. 5 scheme.
