THE HITLER SALUTE
COMPULSORY IN SCHOOLS MUNICH, Aug. 14. The Wmltnmbei’g Minister of Education hits issued an order making it compulsory for all school-children to greet their teachers with the Hitler salute. The teachers of both sexes are also compelled to return the salute. It is especially pointed out that in Roman Catholic schools “it will hot be a contravention of the order if before and after religious instruction the Hitler salute made by the children to the priest is in the one ease preceded and in the other followed by the words: ‘Jesus Christ he praised:’ ’’ Herr Funek, the former Burgomaster of Leon berg (Wurttemberg), has been taken into “preventive custody” for having, it is alleged, made insulting remarks about the Government in publichouses and on the telephone. The alleged offences on the telephone were oresumaidy discovered through the regular system of listening to telephone conversations. introduced by the present regime in Germany.
