RADIO BROADCASTING

IYA’S NEW STATION PURCHASE OF PROPERTY (Per-Pres3 Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. After conducting exhaustive tests to discover -the most suitable locality for the proposed - new IYA radio transmitting station, the Broadcasting Board has purchased land in tho Henderson district.

The chosen site comprises 151 acres-, and is about’ 2J miles beyond tho Henderson township, oil the way to HolensviUe. The price has not been revealed.

Complete agreement that the site is admirable for transmitting purposes has been reached by the board’s engineering experts, who carried out investigations in the search for a desirable location. The nature of tho land, which is bounded by creeks ami a mangrove swamp, ensures good “earthing,” and there is no high land in the vicinity.

Mr. G. 11. Hutchinson, a member of tho board, said it was proposed to erect a single storey reinforced concrete building on the property. Plans and specifications were being prepared and tenders would be called as soon as possible, and also for tho construction of a new IYA studio on tho recently-acquired section in tho city.
