CRICKET MANAGEMENT

P.B. ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING HELD Delegates from several clubs attended tho annual meeting ot the Poverty Bav Cricket Association in full force last evening, ami displayed considerable interest in the affairs of the association, a fact which was commented upon with pleasure towards the close of the meeting. Tho chair was taken by the retiring president, Mr. V. <’. K. Mil ford, who was re-elected to that office without opposition. Air. F. W Nolan, representing the hoard "f coo trol, also attended the meeting, and was elected a vice president of the association.

A comprehensive review of the finances of the association was given by the chairman of the managing committee, Mr. H. E. Maude, who gave a full explanation of the balance-sheet and statements of accounts. Tho association had every reason to congratulate itself upon the excellent state of its affairs, said the president in moving the adoption of the annual report, which was published oil Wednesday. That state of affairs was largely due to the association’s chairman, Mr. Maude, its energetic secretary. the committee, and the players themselves. The association was deeply indebted io the ladies who had provided afternoon tea, which was greatly enjoyed by the players and suppoileis, mid by which the finances of the association were much increased. Lbe speaker was very pleased to know that the eiul-of-thc-season function had proved such a success, and was sure that players would make it an annual affair. Air. Mitford's remarks were warmly endorsed by Air. J. G. A. McGregor, who iii particular paid a glowing tribute to the guidance of the association's affairs given by Mr. Maude. Amidst applause, Air. Mitlord was unanimously re-elected president. Other officers were elected as follow: Vice-presidents, Messrs. 11. B. Williams, I). ,1. Barry, F. W. Nolan, C. Lord, and J. G. A. McGregor; secretary, Air. J. M. Kay; treasurer, Mr. G. Tattersall; auditor, Air. G. O. Hausen; management committee, Messrs. J. J. Alacdonahl, P. C. Dwyer, J. W. Blathwayt, A. C. Wood field, A. Bignall, L. H. Thomson, and F. Bennett. It was decided that the junior grade’s representative should be elected by tho committee.

Alention was made by Mr. B. O. Jeffreys of the decision of the Australian Board of Control In send a team to New Zealand during the coming season, and on his motion it was a recommendation to the management committee that application should be made for the team to visit Gisborne.
