When Miss James, playing for the Wightman Cup at Eastbourne yesterday, appeared in exceedingly abbreviated shorts, a woman spectator declared, “My goodness, what an amazing and awful sight!” Miss James added : “hvely little helps to win a game. Complaints about brevity are ridiculous.” Freda’s,mother is less emphatic. She thought her daughter s shorts could be improved with a little lengthening. “But it’s not for me to say,” tho admitted. “1 suppose I shall get used to them.”
