Radio Atmospherics
TO take up an appointment in Dio * radio research section of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research in Sydney, Dr. Godfrey Builder returned from London by R.M.S. Baradine. A native of Perth (W.A.), he was a member of the British wireless expedition to the Arctic.
Dr. Builder said in Melbourne on September 12 that his main work with the Council of Scientific- and Industrial Research would be the investigation of fading in wireless signals I with a view to improving broadcasting. lie would undertake also the investigation of atmospherics ami their influence on weather forecasts, and wireless reception. Discussing his work in the Arctic. Dr. Builder said the purpose of tho expedition had been to investigate conditions for wireless in connection with wireless propagation, and the influence of the aurora borealis and the magnetic storms. Dr. Builder said the expedition had boon stationed tor a year at Tromsoe, Norway, just inside, the Arctic circle.
