FOOTBALLER’S ILLNESS
RUSHED INTO HOSPITAL •There was a distressing sequel to* the trip of the Ponsonby Rugby League team to Hikurangi last Saturday, lloy C. Bright, 21, the Ponsonby winger, and an Auckland representative player, now lies in Auckland Hospital suffering from a haemorrhage of the brain. Bright played brilliantly in the match. He received a. bump on the nose in a tackle, but there was nothing to 1 suggest serious injury. He was with the team at dinner, and subsequently went to a dance. On rising on Sunday be was sick, but appeared to recover quite well, and then had a light meal. However, the precaution was taken to secure medical attention for the player, who was pronounced not to ,be seriously indisposed. The team then set out for Auckland. A stop, was made at Warkworth lor lunch at noon, when Bright suddenly collapsed. The local doctor examined him, und advised ins removal to -Auckland with all speed. His condition on arrival was critical, and an operation was stated to be likely. However, on Monday he was reported to have shown improvement. ,
