CHINESE, ARRESTED
BARRICADED HOUSE OPIUM SMOKING CHARGE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Two Chinese were arrested early this morning when the police raided premises in 21 Haining street. A large crowd of Chinese watched the efforts of the police to break into the house, which was strongly barricaded. A quantity of apparatus alleged to have been used for the purpose of smoking opium was found. The arrested men will appear at court this morning to answer charges relating to the alleged smoking of opium.
