MAJESTIC THEATRE Two long features comprise the. new programme at the Majestic. Especially written to suit the personality and talents of J’ercy Marmont, “Blind Spot is a story dealing with the machinations of a gentleman crook who operates oil an international scale. Although his activities are well known to the police, they have never been able to definitely connect him with any particular jewel robbery. Devoid of morals, both criminal and domestic, ho nevertheless is unswerving in his love for his only daughter, and this loyalty to the only thing in life he holds sacred proves eventually his undoing . . . and leads to his death. The second feature is “Sailor be Good,” starring Jack Oakie and Vivienne Osborne. Miss Osborne is a sincere rough-and-ready sailors' girl. Jack Oakie is Ids usual sparkling self.

REGENT THEATRE Girls should go to the Regent to see “Cynara" and realise the danger of becoming obliging, vines. Husbands should go and learn the lolly of an allair with a susceptible single woman. Wives should go and learn to bo forgiving. “Cynara” is an absorbing psychological drama superbly interpreted by a cast headed by Ronald Column and Kay Francis. Incidentally it is the lirst of the United Artists cinema entertainments for 1933, as women will realise when they see the latest creations in fashion adorning the actresses. The story concerns a. rising London barrister, very much in love with bis beautiful wile, who, during her absence in Venice is led by a gay old bachelor friend to indulge in a night's mild flirtation. But against his wishes be linds himself carried further and further into the tangled web of intrigue. Brought almost, to the brink of disaster he is prepared to hid farewell to his friends, to 1 his career, and to his wife, whom In* still reverences. But, she proves herself a woman in a thousand. It is intensely interesting drama, hut there are. some delightful touches of comedy ami some magnificent photogiaphv. Outstanding in the suppork, is tlm first, of the muv brilliantly colored cartoons. It is called “King Neptune,“ and the ingenuity with which all denizens of the deep are made to ware war with pirates is amazing.

The Malmraka Matawhero Hall commit ten will hold another dance tumor row night in aid of the piano hind. The floor is in splendid order; a nice home made supper will be served, and the attendance of Mrs. Menzies’ orchestra should make the dance most enjoyable.
