COUNTRY BOXING

ENTHUSIASM AT ORMOND SUSTANTIAL ATTENDANCES The township of Ormond and the surrounding area lias been the scene of an enthusiastic revival of interest in boxing during recent weeks, and a school has been formed for regular practice of the sport. A committee manages, the affairs of tile school, a purely informal institution, and well known boxers from Gisborne have given their time freely hi the tuition of members.. . . Messrs. Jack Heeney and Lin. KQb.inson, both ex-cliampions, have paid regular visits to the school, and have helped the project qlong the road to success by their interest and tuition. The club is fortunate in securing such skilled assistance without charge, and in having a number of promising boys who may eventually develop into district chamEions. The professional veterans are oth of the opinion that this hope is not without a substantial foundation, and the Gisborne and Waikohu boxing associations may later have cause to feel thatthe Ormond project is a real stimulus to the sport. As an indication of the interest taken in the doings of the budding boxers, the attendances at three recent gatherings, 41, 91, and 126 respectively, are worth mentioning. With the object of securing gear for the school, a dance is to be given shortly at Ormond. ,
