CAMBRIDGE HORSE FAIR BEST PRICES POR TEARS
The draught horses at the Cambridge horse fair last week comprised the best selection for over a decade, and the prices were the highest for some years. It is years since draught horses realised over £SO. The highest price of the sale was £sb. Twenty-seven horses brought £4O and £3O to £35 was a common price for broken draughts. The following averages show how successful the sale was:—First day, 20< unbroken draughts averaged £lB bs; second day, 132 draughts (broken) averaged £27 Is 4d; third day, 151 draughts averaged £29 19s 9d; fourth day, 130 draughts averaged £l9 3s. Hacks and light horses were offered on Saturday and best sorts sold from £ll to £2O 10s.
It is reported that shipments of butter from Australia for the first seven weeks of the season totalled 2900 tons, compared with 7700 tons and 6200 tons lor the same periods of 1932 and 1931 respectively.
